Opus School of the Arts in Camas has six weekly summer camps that run Monday through Friday, 10:00am-2:00pm, July 7-Aug 15th with a different theme each week. Camps are grouped by ages 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12, and culminate in a final performance on Friday at 1:30 for the last 30 minutes of each camp.

Groups rotate between 3 focused areas: music, dance/theater, and art, with age appropriate skills, activities, and challenges related to the weekly theme. There will be breaks and a designated lunch time for each age group on each day. Students need to bring a nut-free, non-perishable sack lunch and water bottle.

Tuition: $300 per student per camp. Discount of 10% for siblings. Materials fee of $30 with a $10 discount for siblings or multiple classes.
Early Bird Tuition: $270 through March 31st.

*Summer Cancellation Refund Policy*: 50% refund up to May 15th, 50% account credit if cancelling between May 15th and June 15th, no refunds or credits after June 15th.

Week 1: July 7 – 11

Week 1: Crash, Boom, Stomp!

A Rhythmic Connection Between Music, Dance, Theater, and Art! Ages 4 through 12.

This innovative camp is inspired by groundbreaking shows like STOMP and Blue Man Group. We bring music, movement, and art into a theatrical show where each participant’s individual character is brought to life, using non-traditional “instruments” in the final performance.

Music: Create rhythmic sound using makeshift drums, buckets, brooms, garbage cans, and marimbas.

Dance/Theater: Explore percussive movement using traditional tap steps, body rhythms, and everyday props.

Art: Design and paint your own instruments and create the set for the final performance.

Week 2: July 14 – 18

Week 2: Opus on Broadway! (camp 1)

The Neon Lights Are Bright In Camas! Ages 4-12

It takes all kinds of artists to put on a Broadway show. In this camp, students not only hone their ‘triple threat’ performance skills (singing, dancing, acting), but also learn to play in the pit band, paint set pieces, and design costumes. Everything comes together for the performance at the end of the week. No previous experience is required. Due to high demand, this camp is now offered twice this summer!

Music: Learn a medley of popular Broadway songs.

Dance/Theater: Learn Broadway-style choreography, including popular musicals like Wicked and Matilda.

Art: Design and create playbill collages, posters, costumes, and set pieces for the Friday performance.

Week 3: July 21 – 25

10:00am-2:00pm | July 21-25 | Tuition $300 Early Bird Before April 1st $270.

Week 4: Comic Creations

A Comic Story That Saves Downtown Camas! Ages 4 through 12.

Bring your love of everything Comic Con to life with music, art, and physical theatrics. Create and wear your best comic book-inspired outfit to perform on the last day of class for all to see. This camp takes place the same week as the Camas Comic Con on Friday, August 1st.

Music: Compose and create music in the style of Marvel, Avengers, Transformers, etc.

Dance/Theater:
Learn martial arts-inspired choreography that mimics scenes in comics, and explore character acting and improvisation.

Art:
Create comic or graphic novel based art from your favorite comic books, TV shows, or video games as backdrops. Kapow!

Week 5: Aug 4 – 8

Week 5: Hip Hop and You Don’t Stop!
10:00am-2:00pm | August 4-8 | Tuition $300 Early Bird Before April 1st $270.

Kick It With the Camas Crew! Ages 4 through 12.

Ready to bust a move? Then join us for this immersive experience combining art, breakdance, and the beats of this genre. Designed for Opus students using an age-appropriate approach.

Music: Learn hip hop beats, raps, soundscape creation, and mixing.

Dance/Theater:
B-Boys and B-Girls will have the best moves at the party when they learn top rock, footwork, freezes, cyphering, battling, and more breaking fundamentals.

Art: Create stylized graffiti art on backdrops inspired by hip-hop culture.

Week 6: Aug 11 – 15

Week 6: Opus Eras Tour (Opus’s Version)
10:00am-2:00pm | August 11-15 | Tuition $300 Early Bird Before April 1st $270.

We Are In Our Own Era! For Ages 4 through 12.

Shake it off and join your fellow Swifties to create music, dance, and art pieces inspired by Taylor Swift’s iconic Eras Tour. You will create an Eras concert that may sweep Camas by storm on the last Friday of the week and close out our summer camp season.

Music: Learn a medley of popular Taylor Swift songs

Dance/Theater:
Learn fun choreography to songs like “Shake it Off”, “Blank Space”, and “22”. *Songs may be determined by the students!

Art:
Create friendship bracelets, collages with your favorite song lyrics, and your own Eras tour-inspired art piece, setting the stage for the final performance.
