November Playing Parties FAQ
We will be holding Playing Parties in November to prepare our students for the Fall Concert. This is an opportunity for students to play for each other, give feedback, receive feedback, and run through their concert song before the concert.
Q: What are playing parties?
A: Playing parties are when we get our students together to play for each other. We do these before our Fall Concert. This year’s concert is on Saturday December 1st.
Q: When are the Playing Parties?
A: The Playing Parties are during the second week in November and should be during your normal lesson time or within 15 minutes before or after. Please check your School Calendar for specific dates. We will also be posting very specific times as we approach the first week of November on this page.
Q: Are they at the same time as our normal lesson?
A: They are designed to be during your normal lesson time.
Q: What do I do if I have a 3:00-3:30 lesson time? (This is an example)
A: If you have a 3:00-3:30 lesson, your playing party time will be 3:15-3:45. You will still arrive at 3:00, have a 15-minute lesson then attend the playing party from 3:15-3:45. *This means that you will need to stay an extra 15 minutes longer than normal.
Q: What do I do if I have a 3:30-4:00 lesson time? (This is an example)
A: If you have a 3:30-4:00 lesson time, your playing party will be from 3:15-3:45. *You will need to arrive 15 minutes early. You will have a 30 minute playing party then have the 15 minute lesson afterward, ending on time.
Q: Do we have to participate in the playing party?
A: It is strongly suggested that you participate. Your student needs the experience of playing in front of a smaller group of people before playing in front of a large audience. They will also receive feedback from the other teachers and admiration from the other students. However, if you feel that you still do not want to participate, you may opt out. However, you will still receive the 15-minute private lesson that day.
Q: Can the parents stay and watch?
A: The space is extremely limited, and we may not have room for the parents to sit in the room to watch. If you would like to stay and see if there is room, you are welcome to do so. You may also stand outside the room to listen.
Q: What if my lesson is 1:30 or at a time when there is not a playing party scheduled?
A: You will still attend your regular lesson time and be contacted with time options to attend a playing party. Will prefer a day/time that allows your teacher to be present during your students playing party.
