Private Lessons: Guitar-Bass-Ukulele-Mandolin

Opus offers private guitar, bass guitar, ukulele and mandolin lessons for students of all ages and abilities from beginners to very advanced students. Unless otherwise noted, all guitar teachers teach beginning ukulele.

We start guitar lessons at any age from age 6 onward. Our research and experience has shown us that most students are ready for more focused private guitar lessons by age 8 but not most of them are ready at age 6 due to coordination and maturity level.

Our private guitar lessons are one-on-one instruction and lesson lengths are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour. For our advanced students we have teachers with master’s degrees in guitar who can prepare them for college or university entrance.

We offer most styles from rock, country, classical, jazz and contemporary pop. We have students who want to play just for fun and students who wish to excel with massive aspirations to be on stage! Our Arts Administrators are able to match students with a teacher that works best with their particular age, ability and interest.

By working on essential skills, exercises, music theory concepts, a variety of songs from the students’ choosing, and regular performances, my goal is to help individuals become not just confident guitar players, but confident musicians. Since graduating with a degree in music business in 2015 I’ve spent the past 8 years in various capacities of music education and performance.

Growing up there was never a time when music did not play a significant part in my life. I was raised listening to everything from Gene Autry to Van Cliburn.

I remember always wanting to take music lessons. Fortunately for me my mother was always happy to indulge me.

Throughout my life I’ve studied, violin, piano, guitar, mandolin, and percussion. The experiences only furthered my love for music. Ultimately these studies provided me the opportunity to perform as a musician in various ways: as a solo artist, as a member of a variety of musical groups, and as a session studio musician. I have also performed with several symphony orchestras and I served my country as a member of the United States Marine Corps Band.

Now as a music teacher I want to pass along to my students the magic in music. Not just have them learn how to play an instrument, but to have them experience the joy it can bring to their lives.

Also teaches: piano, voice, violin, viola, cello.

No two students are the same, and my greatest joy in teaching is to personalize each lesson, meeting students’ individual needs. I love to see my students achieve excellence and develop a deeper love for music making! I strive to bring solid pedagogy, connection, and enthusiasm to each and every lesson. With my own experience in instrumental and choral performance and formal university training, my ultimate goal is for my students to become independent learners.
