Why Dance at Opus?
We’re here to help students discover a love of movement, express themselves creatively, and enjoy the process of learning new skills. We believe dance is for everyone, so we put our energy into excellent curriculum choices, safe foundations, and a caring and professional teaching staff. We feature family friendly performances throughout the year to celebrate our dancers’ progress and to share their joy of dance with loved ones.
When children are taken to dance classes from a young age, they develop a keen understanding of how their bodies work, of spatial awareness, and of stamina. It’s the same group of children who have not been taken to dance classes, developing these understandings later in life would require a more intentional effort.
Convenience
Schedule Music, Dance, and Art classes at the same time, for different children, or back-to-back classes for one child. We serve all ages and have an amazing Adult Fitness/Wellness program.
Fun First
We want students to get excited about learning the art of dance. We do this by keeping our dance classes fun and low-pressure, while emphasizing self-expression and building confidence. Opus dance classes are recreational, so all of our performance opportunities are optional and non-competitive.
Healthy Bodies
We support the health and safety of all students through body-positive teaching methods, the use of age-appropriate music and choreography, and the promotion of self-care.
Professional Flooring
We installed the professional “floating floor” system in each of our movement studios. There are hundreds of high density foam pads under each floor, which protect students and teachers alike. The top layer is a special surface designed to reduce the risk of injury.
Experienced Instructors
Our dance teachers are highly experienced, warm, gifted educators. Each of our teachers additionally has a dance degree and/or years of professional performing experience. Our staff go through a comprehensive screening and interview process to be certain they are the right fit for the Opus culture.
